About us
Post Tree Lifestyle was set up in 2018 at 1 Kai Fong Garden, Ping Che, Fanling, as the first integrated tree recycling and processing center in Hong Kong. Our vision is to utilize felled local trees in our life and environment with positive environmental impacts. In 2018, the Institute of Bioresource and Agriculture, HKBU, studied and examined our tree recycling process with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), conducted according to the ISO14040 series standards. It indicated that every process and recycling product of ours is eco-friendly, just as our belief that “trees should be more than wood in order to minimize environmental impact.”
In fact, less than 40% of a tree ends up physically as wood timbers. What about the other 60%? Trees are one of the earliest materials used for our survival and adopted into our daily lives. In the past, no part of a tree will be claimed as “waste” but treated as a valuable resource. In modern Hong Kong, most of us merely forgot how our ancestors lived and even built empires with trees, and subsequently forgot how to love and respect them. Therefore, Post Tree endeavours to restore and develop our relationship beyond timbers, but with trees themselves. To relink trees and our communities, we have not only researched their physical properties, but also studied the culture and history of local species to co-benefit the related communities and industries. We have collaborated with a number of institutes, non-profit organizations and farms to employ wood materials for science, agriculture, gardening, art research, art-making and so on. To let more friends understand local tree recycling and material properties, we hold regular workshops about living with our valuable local trees and environment.
